Also, I've been trying to find the phrase that my grandfather used to say in Lithuanian whenever we sneezed. I know the response from us was, "dėkoju."
The phrased that he said seemed a lot longer than just a, "Bless you."
My recollection was something like, "Pamachecks Pima Pona Besy" That's my phonetic spelling. Does this give you any hint on what he was actually saying?
Thanks for your time,
Chris

It's funny... I've had three other relatives email me about what they thought he was saying:
"Bombachek aspee aspon aspessie"
"Pee-a-pawn-a-bessing"
"Pombajak spenoponobussy!"
We are probably getting it totally wrong. :)

Whenever our grandpa said this, he would get a big smile on his face, like possibly it was some sort of joke or humorous thing to say. So I'm not sure it's just a stock "bless you" but might be something a little more deluxe.
He also probably got this from his parents, so we are talking people who were born slightly before 1900. I'm wondering if this phrase is just very old or even archaic.
Thanks for the efforts to translate it though, I've been burning with curiosity about it for a long time!
Matt
