I'm in 50% Lithuanian (unfortunately, I don't speak
Lithuanian yet - but I try to learn it). I live in Poland. I have a short
question to Raminta. I'm going to visit my Lithuanian family in Vilinus and
I would like to know whether there is in Lithuania such a custom consisting
in kissing woman in hand by greetings. As you probably know, it is a typical
and very natural custom in Poland (and Austria too, as far as I know), but I
should like to avoid any unsuitabilities when I will visit my relatives. I
would be grateful for your answer.
Viso gero!

I hope you're having a great summer. A note to Raminte: I've been working on my Lithuanian vocabulary, and now I am able to read your book! Obviously I don't know every word, but I can pick up 3/4 of it. I can't read many pages before my concentration flags because my brain is still not used to Lithuanian, but I'm quite happy that I have progressed this far in just under two years. I still can't speak very well, but my comprehension has improved because I stream Lithuanian TV via computer, and of course the reading, which has involved a dictionary marathon these past two years. You write like you're a lawyer by training, as you're very methodical and specific (from what I can tell). I am definitely learning something new in addition to giving my brain a workout!
I"m off to LT on Monday, and will be traveling to Klaipeda/Nida/Palanga later next week. I hope the weather holds!
Best regards,
Letitia Ryjeski
Thank you ever so much for your podcasts. I never thought I should learn the Lithuanian langauge. My wife is from Klaipeda, we live in Denmark, and I have tried to learn the langauge with so many different books and CD's, but nothing is as cool as your podcasts.
Labai aciu, Emil
